Focusing on the major hydraulic problems involved in the construction of large-scale water conservancy and hydropower projects and the development of water resources in sensitive waters, systematic research is carried out in the aspects of water flow movement in rivers and lakes, flood discharge safety and environmental hydraulics of water conservancy hubs. The main research directions are as follows : 1 ) Water environment effect of water conservancy and hydropower projects and flood discharge safety of hubs ; 2 ) Hydrodynamic characteristics and pollutant transport and diffusion law of rivers, lakes and reservoirs ; 3 ) Hydrodynamic and water environment simulation method and application.
He presided over the key project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China ' Study on the characteristics of pollutant transport and diffusion and the mechanism of hydraulic regulation in large reservoirs ' and the national major water special research project ' Study on the impact of cascade power station construction on the water environment of Mudanjiang ', ' Study on the key technology of ecological compensation for cascade power station construction ' and so on. He undertook the national 973 project ' Dynamic mechanism and system simulation of water environment effect in wetland system ', and was also responsible for many horizontal projects of the Three Gorges Corporation, Chengdu and East China Survey and Design Institute, such as flood discharge and energy dissipation of the hub, water environment characteristics near the dam area and so on. A series of hydraulic and water environment prediction models have been developed, and a variety of innovative and practical numerical models and calculation methods have been proposed, such as the whole area model for the calculation of polluted mixed area, the oblique layered three-dimensional finite element model, the water temperature prediction model of large reservoirs, the three-dimensional water ecological dynamics model, and the pollution accident early warning model. The key technologies of flood discharge and energy dissipation safety of large water conservancy and hydropower junctions and the difficult problems of ' large water body and small discharge ' network in lateral discharge simulation, and the treatment of bottom slope and shoal in shallow water equation simulation have been successfully solved. The evolution process and change mechanism of environmental factors such as pollutants in rivers and lakes, thermal oxygen distribution in lakes and reservoirs, and supersaturation of dissolved oxygen in the downstream of dams are revealed.
A number of achievements have reached the international leading level, with significant economic and environmental benefits. The research results on the flow and water quality characteristics of the Three Gorges Reservoir, the accident pollution characteristics of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project and the key technologies of Xiluodu flood discharge and energy dissipation provide a good scientific basis and reliable technical support for the development and utilization of river water resources, the safe operation of reservoirs and the management of water environment in China. Published more than 100 academic papers, more than 50 papers SCI and EI included, presided over and participated in the preparation of five academic works. He has won more than 10 teaching and research awards, such as the first prize of Scientific and Technological Progress of the Ministry of Education, the second prize of China 's Electric Power Science and Technology, Award for Young Teachers in Colleges and Universities, the special prize of excellent teachers in Baosteel and the first prize and second prize of National Teaching Achievement.
